Your next drill takes your move right away
In a training session, the new board sometimes ignored your clicks and drags for the first second or two after you hit Next Drill. Something loading quietly in the background was swallowing them. That's fixed, so the position now comes up ready to play.

Try Premium free for 3 days
Your first 3 days of Premium are free and we don't ask for a card. You get every training category plus the coach's notes after each drill. If you never add a card, Premium just stops after that.

The next drill is ready before you ask for it
A training session now loads your next puzzle in the background while you play the current one. Next Drill puts the board up right away instead of holding on a loading card. Your clock and rating work exactly as before.

The 3-2-1 intro plays once per session
The countdown now runs when you start a training session, and not before every drill after that. Standalone drills and the daily puzzle start straight away too. You can still turn the intro off in Settings.

Clearer wording on the result screen
The line under your result no longer guesses at what kind of position you were in, so it will not tell you that you defended a position you actually won. It sticks to the outcome and the clock.

Free accounts get unlimited drills and Review
The 50-drill daily limit is gone, so you can train as long as you like. The Review tab after each drill is free now too. It grades every move you played and shows the engine's line.

Coach's Notes stick to the move you played
Notes used to end by naming a move you did not play and telling you what it would have cost. By then you have already solved the puzzle, so that sentence is gone. The rest of the note is unchanged.

Cleaner category cards on Train
Each training category is down to one line, so you can scan the list and pick one without reading a paragraph first. Quick start is still the main button on every card.

Coach's Notes lead with the idea
Notes now open with what your move actually threatens, like a fork you were setting up, instead of describing which piece defended the square. They only call a reply forced when it really was the only legal move, and they are shorter on simple positions.

Training starts faster
Starting a session used to take a while to load the first time. You now get your first puzzle right away.

Drills no longer pause between puzzles
A training session used to freeze for a moment between puzzles while the position loaded. That pause is gone, so you move straight from one drill to the next.

Coach's Notes now match the board
Every note is written from the actual position and checked against the board before it reaches you, so the squares, pieces and moves it names are really there. A note that fails the check is replaced with a plainer one rather than a confident guess.

Difficulty labels and numbers got a cleaner look
Difficulty now reads as one scale from dim to gold instead of seven unrelated colors, so you can tell a Master puzzle from a Casual one at a glance. Your history lists each puzzle by category and rating, and ratings and timers share one font.

Notifications are here
The bell in the top bar carries what has changed on the site, and a gold dot means there is something you have not read yet. The rest of the bar is the gear for settings and signing out, plus your name for your profile.

Quick start picks your difficulty for you
Hit Quick start on any training category and you go straight into a drill at the level your rating says you should be playing, so you no longer have to pick a tier first.

Engine strength is no longer adjustable
Every puzzle now plays the opposing side at full strength. Beating a weakened engine was paying you for its mistakes rather than for your own play.

You can see how hard a puzzle is rated
The breakdown at the end of a drill now shows the puzzle's own rating. It stays hidden while you play so it does not shape how you approach the position.

A correct but scrappy solve costs you less
Solving a puzzle with one loose move in it no longer wipes out most of what you earned. You keep a fixed share of the gain instead of losing more of it the easier the puzzle was.
